Peggy Kusinski’s involvement in the Girls in the Game Foundation began 15 years ago when she was asked to MC their gala. After directing the ceremonies three years in a row, she fell in love with the organization’s purpose, and became a board member.
“I loved their message to try and help the whole girl, to prepare the entire being of a girl for her adult life,” Kusinski said.
Girls in the Game works with young ladies in underdeveloped neighborhoods to educate healthy lifestyles. They then expose girls to different jobs women do, showing them anything they want to do is possible.
“For girls it’s confidence. Sports are so important to insure that it’s okay who you are. You don’t have to change,” Kusinski said. “When you play sports and develop that confidence in yourself, it makes it okay to be aggressive as a woman and to take charge.”
